The Electric Flag

The Electric Flag is the quintessential blues rock soul band. Originally formed by guitarist Mike Bloomfield (along with current original band members Nick Gravenites and Barry Goldberg) in 1967 following his stint with The Butterfield Blues Band, the band attained national prominence with the 1968 release, A Long Time Comin'. A fusion of rock, jazz, and R&B styles, the album entered the Top 40 in the Billboard Magazine Pop Albums chart. Their initial recording was actually the soundtrack for The Trip, a movie about an LSD experience by Peter Fonda, written by Jack Nicholson, and directed by Roger Corman. The band made its debut appearance at the Monterey Pop Festival, the first of the '60s rock music extravaganzas.

The Electric Flag returns with a stellar line-up including Nick Gravenites, vocals & guitar, Barry Goldberg, B3 and keyboards, drummer Roy Blumenfeld  (The Blues Project and Sea Train), Jeff Tamelier (Tower of Power) on guitar, John Beckwith, bass and a stellar two man horn section with Peter Welker on trumpet & flugelhorn and Scott Petersen, saxophone.
